Healing Cycles Therapy

About Me

Hi there, I am Dyshni

A difficult childhood or family experiences forced you to grow up quickly so you developed roles of being strong and independent. You may be someone that has faced life challenges on your own and independently so reaching out for help may feel overwhelming & confusing.

I have been where you are. I know the pain of holding everything in, not asking for help and minimizing your needs and feelings only to feel strong externally and struggle internally. Drawing from lived experience, education and working with a variety of diverse individuals who had to be strong without a choice, I see you. You matter, your story matters and your experiences matter!

As a trauma-informed therapist, I support clients to learn, make sense, break, process and heal cycles of trauma. I believe trauma is a part of many people’s stories and impacts everyone differently. Keeping this in my mind, my approach explores your whole self – early attachments, family history, personality, cultural/religious impacts, coping strategies and present-day functioning.

I use a range of therapeutic modalities and integrative approaches to ensure a safe space that is non-judgmental, holistic, anti-oppressive and applies harm reduction practices. I will meet you exactly where you are in your healing journey, ensuring that you feel seen, heard, and validated. My therapy style uses a combination of eastern and western knowledge and practices through a culturally-informed lens. As part of this commitment, I also welcome the idea of using creative modes of working together that factor in and incorporate cultural practices, beliefs, expressions, strengths and messages.

I can also provide therapy in Tamil – I aim to provide a space where clients can freely explore cultural identity issues and discuss topics that carry stigma in their culture and homes!

I know the immense strength it takes to hold it all together when everything feels like it is falling apart. You might feel alone but you do not have to do it alone. Together, we will bring to the surface what is not serving you and bring balance and peace into your life!
