Walk and Talk Therapy

What is Walk and talk therapy?

Walk and Talk Therapy is just as it sounds: we meet in an outdoor setting, where you choose the pace, and we engage in discussions about your difficulties and goals. This type of psychotherapy combines movement with collaborative problem-solving. Based on your preferences, it may also include mindfulness elements that blend physical movement and the mindful observation of the natural environment.

How does confidentiality work when we are outside?

Engaging in Walk and Talk Therapy in public settings comes with certain confidentiality considerations. Working together, we will make every effort to safeguard your privacy during Walk and Talk Therapy sessions. Should you decide to take part in this form of therapy, we will have a conversation to address any concerns regarding confidentiality and establish how you’d like to manage potential confidentiality risks.

Where do sessions take place?

Currently, these outdoor sessions will be in the Markham area with different options based on trail difficulty. You will be given information about the location before your session.

Can I switch between virtual and Walk and Talk Therapy?

Yes, you can. The flexibility is up to you and what works best with your schedule!

New clients are required to participate in at least one virtual session before commencing Walk and Talk Therapy. This initial virtual session serves as an appropriate time for completing Consent Forms, handling intake paperwork, and facilitating a deeper mutual understanding. Also, we can explore Walk and Talk Therapy and assess its suitability for your needs.

How much does Walk and Talk Therapy cost?

It is the same price as my virtual therapy sessions: $160 for 50 minutes. You will also be provided a receipt once the session is completed.

Is Walk and Talk Therapy like exercise?

Although physical activity may offer physical benefits to clients, it’s important to clarify that the primary focus of Walk and Talk Therapy is not exercise. The session doesn’t involve any physically demanding activities. It is not a race, you will get to choose your pace!

*Please note: that Walk and Talk Therapy sessions are offered seasonally. If you choose to do walk&talk therapy, we will come up with a plan for different weather conditions (rain, snow, or even a sprinkle). Ultimately, the decision on our course of action will rest with you.
